Today I have some questions for you, that I just can’t seem to get my head around.

Just because you are celebrities, it doesn’t mean that you are not real women. Right. And I know you have access to super dooper products and processes that the average woman can only dream of, but still here are my questions.

How do you always have saved/waxed legs, bikini lines trim taught and terrific and perfectly shaped eyebrows ALL THE TIME? Does your body never have any spiky down time? If I saved my legs more than twice a week, I’d be in agony, because they’d be itchy and sore (yes I have crap skin), and doesn’t your body need ‘down time’. Like if you wax your legs then doesn’t the hair have to GROW BACK before you can wax them again? Or is it different in celebrity land?

Kind regards,
Ami

So what do you think girls? I was looking at some pics of Jen Hawkins from Derby Day on Saturday to Melbourne Cup on Tuesday – flawless, gorgeous, and a bloody quick turn around time! So is it just me who has crappy skin and can’t handle the constant shaving, plucking for fear that I’ll walk around looking like a tomato and my body requires ‘down time’ from constant primping? Or is just as simple as a team of stylists and special celebrity people?

So after reading Kerri Sackville’s hilarious post’s on how Nicole Kidman stole her life, part 1 and now today part 2 (click HERE to read them) I decided that I too should share how a famous celebrity unashamedly stole my future life as a glamourous supermodel and ruined my potential of dating one of hollywoods hottest young actor’s.

Yes I am of course talking about none other than Miranda Kerr.

Miranda Kerr 2nd from left. Me on the right with very curly hair!

You see as a youngen I was an aspiring model. Actually let me rephrase that, I was an aspiring Supermodel. To the top of the modelling world I was going. I was going to have my hair and makeup done every day to look totally glamourous and I was going to strut my stuff up and down international catwalks like I was king shit, or queen shit, or whatever, you get my drift.

I was well on my way too when I was sponsored by the local Just Jeans and Fashion Fair for the local modelling comps in my good ol’ home town of Tamworth. Super tough competition in the country I’ll have you know. Then there was a new chick on the block. A petit gal from country Gunnedah who travelled to Tamworth to compete in the local comps. And that folks is when my world came crashing down!

And the runner up is….. Ami Holder. And the winner is…. Miranda Kerr. And so on it went that Miss Kerr won numerous times in fact. I remember ‘backstage’ at one comp, Miranda turned to me lifted up her arms and said ‘oh no I forgot to shave under my arms’. Don’t worry I said, no one will notice. Inside thinking, god I hope the judges see. Yes, I was a 13 year old bitch, but I desparately wanted to beat her. And of course I didn’t!

And then she won the Dolly covergirl competition. So while her world was thrown into modelling chaos heaven and she posed with the likes of Callan Mulvey for Dolly covers and no doubt ate lettuce leaves and carrot sticks, I went to school, came home watched the Bold and the Beautiful and ate chocolate biscuits!

I remember one of my mum’s friends who came along to one comp, said oh don’t worry she (Miranda) definitely won’t win, she’s way too skinny. What do they know – the rest is history!

However I wasn’t going to let Miranda’s success get in the way of my dreams, no-siree. It spurred me on and at the ripe old age of 16 I won the local Country Catwalk competition. How? Why? Almost certainly because Miranda was probably off on some island doing an exoctic swimwear shoot and was a little too busy to give me a run for my money in the local country modelling comp.

Then I turned 17 and decided to retire. Modelling was you know like seriously overrated and I decided to focus on my studies. Well, go to school anyway. And there was the small detail of not getting out there and finding a modelling contract or losing 4 kilos like one modelling judge suggested I do. (5ft 8″ and 55kg, and they wonder why teenage girls get weight issues. Anyway that’s another subject). So there you have it, the story of the modelling career that never was.

And to Orlando, I’m sorry you got stuck with Miranda instead of me, but I’m sure you’re doing just fine!

So today I’m going to use Puff for personal gain.

What do I usually use it for I hear you ask? Good question. Usually to vent and/or to get an opinion out there. But today it’s all about me, myself and I. So just not my opinion, but me. Aren’t you lucky! And actually, I’m essentially after YOUR opinion!

Ok, enough fluffing around here’s my predicament. For the past 9 months I have been growing my hair like most bride’s tend to do. You can tell this is going to be serious, World Peace kinda stuff now can’t you!

So here I am with long hair, and no longer a bride but now a wife. I inherited a gene from my mum (I swear it’s hereditary) where I tend to change my hair often. And when I say change I mean short black bob from long blonde curls. I was unfortunately ‘blessed’ with curly / wavy/ frizzy hair which on the upside is pretty easy to straighten.

Anyway. So. I’ve become accustomed to once again having long hair after chopping it April last year, but now that the wedding has been and gone I find the little hair fairy in my head chirping, “I’m bored with my hair, let’s do something different next time”. So, next time would be Tuesday 27th October and my question is this….

To get a fringe or not get a fringe?! BIG decision I know! Like I said I’m quite used the long locks at the moment, and don’t have any plans to become a brunette again just yet, so this is the next best thing to a ‘change’ me thinks.

So what do you think? And wouldn’t it be nice if looking like Heidi or Reese came along with the new do too!

Do you read Mia Freedman’s blog? Well you should, but only of course after you’ve read mine!! Well recently on www.mamamia.com.au, there have been some fabulous stories on celebrities without makeup, before and after airbrushing shots and pictures of plus-size models, who are actually more real-size than plus size. I think these types of stories are fantastic and are showing that the fashion and magazine industries are slowly getting that we would like to see REAL people!

So after feeling all warm and fuzzy after reading a story about a plus-size model, my warm and fuzziness quickly disappeared when I saw this story on www.ninemsn.com.au:

Keira’s boobs pumped up for Chanel ad

Slimline Keira Knightley doesn’t need to be slimmed down in Photoshop for her ad campaigns… she just gets plumped up instead. In a new image from her latest shoot for Chanel perfume, Keira’s chest looks somewhat fuller than what she’s famous for. UK’s Daily Mail called in airbrushing expert Chris Bickmore to study the new picture of the 24-year-old actress, and concluded that “her breast has had some shading added to it to give it the effect of being rounder and more pert and it has also been increased in size slightly.”

Der.

It’s just pretty lame that women in advertising seem to be either too fat or not voluptuous enough these days. UK Liberal Democrat MP Lynne Featherstone, a fervent campaigner against the use of excessive airbrushing in ads, said Keira’s Chanel shoot was fine – but that people need to realise the image had been tampered with.

“Keira is a beautiful woman and that’s the point,” she was quoted as saying.

“If the image has been airbrushed then people need to know so they don’t try and achieve what is totally unrealistic.

“Young girls especially will try and aspire to things which often they can’t achieve and which will leave them feeling bad about themselves.

“Where an image has been altered and retouched, we are simply saying there needs to be a symbol showing what has been done and where.”

Keira’s no stranger to boob controversy – in 2004 her King Arthur publicity images got a chesty makeover. The image used for the UK release showed her natural chest, where her breasts were digitally enhanced for the US version.

“Those things certainly weren’t mine,” she said at the time.

“We had an interesting discussion when they said, ‘We want to make them slightly larger and you’ll get approval’ and I was like, ‘OK, fine. I honestly don’t give a s***’.”

Firstly I think this issue is going to be an ever evolving one in this industry, and unfortunately stories like this are like 2 steps forward and one step back. Secondly, I think that Keira should give a shit. If she’s proud of the rack she’s got then she should have said no to the digital enhancement.
So what do you think? Are we always going to be banging our heads against a brick wall on this issue, or slowly slowly wins the race?

So following on from his ‘radio scandal’ and ‘dumping’ from Australian Idol, now comes the next Kyle installment which was always bound to happen: ‘his entire fall from grace’.

This week’s Womans Day reports:

The shamed radio host fears that with his career in crisis he’s about to lose it all, writes Angela Mollard.

Just 10 months ago, Kyle Sandilands sat on his throne like a portly king surveying the opulent scene before him. He took in the A-list celebrity guests, the ostentatious eight-tier cake, the thousands of Swarovski crystals used to spell out his and his bride’s names and, of course, Tamara herself, dressed in 200 metres of finest quality silk.

If ever there was a moment when he felt he had made it, this was it. Yet less than a year after his grossly extravagant wedding, the self-styled media king has hit rock bottom.

In TV’s most humiliating dethroning, he has lost his $1 million-a-year job on Australian Idol, cost his radio employers millions in lost advertising, and invited the spotlight onto his finances, with his debts estimated at $2.2 million.

And all because he cast aside decency, caution and the traditional seven-second program delay which might have saved him, and instead grilled a 14-year-old girl about her sexual experiences on-air.

Now, just as he has reached the peak of his career, Kyle’s world is crumbling around him and Woman’s Day can reveal that he is terrified he is about to lose all he has created.

“He’s spent his whole life working towards being rich and famous, and now that he’s achieved that, he’s extremely worried that it’s all going to evaporate,” says one media insider.

Reactions to the radio stunt have been strong, with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd saying, “This is really off. It’s wrong, shouldn’t be done. This is a young girl and I am really distressed at the way in which the young person has been treated. [A police investigation] is entirely appropriate.”

So where does ‘King Kyle’ go from here? Did he deserve everything he got, was it only a matter of time?

When the ‘radio scandal’ broke, I, much to my own surprise, defended Kyle and what had happened. I didn’t however defend the segment and nor will I. Ever. But has this fall from grace really been justified. (Don’t worry I’m ready for the disagreements!)

In this whole situation and looking back on Kyle as a ’shock jock’, he can’t be entirely to blame. There have been reports that the people surrounding the Kyle & Jackie O radio show have become yes-men to the radio stars, basically letting them do whatever they like, because they are, or were, the number 1 radio show in Australia.

Now humour me while I liken this to a parent/child situation. If a mother gives her child everything they ask for, then that is what they will continue to expect it and if not, then brace yourself for a tantrum. See the similarities? Kyle, and Jackie O as well for that matter, no doubt have become accustomed to pretty much doing what they like, while they continued to get ratings. Was their coming undone inevitable? Well, yes. Should it have been over this ’scandal’? Probably not.

And don’t even get me started on Australian Idol. Well ok, I’ll have a little rant. Did you watch it? If you did you would have seen that most of the entertainment came from Kyle. Didn’t watch it? Well I can assure you that Kyle just says what no doubt most of us are thinking. He does it for attention, he does it for ratings and he does it because that’s what he has always done and up until now no one has told him to stop.

So I guess only time will tell if all the kings horses and all the kings men can put this humpty dumpty back together again.

I feel like I’m having de ja vu this morning back to the Matthew Johns scandal.

If you haven’t heard, yesterday Austereo, owners of 2Day FM released a statement stating that the Kyle and Jackie O show had been taken off air. The statement read:

“Kyle Sandilands’ management has advised Austereo that he is unable to perform his duties on-air at this time. Following a great deal of consideration and having consulted Jackie O and all stakeholders, Austereo has formed the view that it is in the interest of all parties for The Kyle And Jackie O Show to go into recess until we have completed an across-the-networks review of the principals and protocols of our interaction with our audience.

“This review commenced last Wednesday, July 29, 2009.”

So, once again it would seem that ‘people power’ has won and the media hype surrounding last week’s scandal has done what it no doubt set out to do and the show has ‘gone into recess’.

I still stand by my initial opinion on the ’scandal’ and now believe even more so that Kyle and Jackie O have been made scapegoats. I am not a fan of Kyle Sandilands, nor can I think back to a time when I have actually agreed with anything he has said or done, but I truly believe that they didn’t know what this girl had gone through. Having said that I also think that the on air lie detector test of a 14 year old girl should never have happened in the first place.

Clearly people who are in the public eye and part of the media continue not to learn their lesson about what is appropriate and when they should realise that a ’stunt’ just shouldn’t happen at all. That is all that Kyle and Jackie O are guilty of.

I am still yet to hear the media go after the mother of the girl, who clearly has her own issues, but then again she isn’t a national radio and TV personality so I guess she won’t sell paper’s or increase TV ratings. In a few weeks this story will be just another forgotten tale in the long line of people power outcry’s. I just hope the media reports what actually does happen to the mother and her daughter so we get all sides of the story. Let’s hope there’s a happy ending for all involved.

In case you missed the ’scandal’, you can read it here:

If you missed the story here’s some background. A mother bought her 14 year old daughter on the Kyle & Jackie O show to take a lie detector test because she was concerned about her taking drugs, partying and having sex.

From ninemsn: The teenager’s mother brought her onto the 2DayFM segment to be questioned about her drug use and whether she had been having sex after she ran away from home.

When asked if she had ever had sex, the girl said: “I’ve already told you the story about this … and don’t look at me and smile because it’s not funny.”

She then raised her voice, saying: “Oh okay … I got raped when I was 12 years old.”

There was silence for a few seconds before host Kyle Sandilands said: “Right … is that the only experience you’ve had?”

After Sandiland’s comment’s Jackie O went into damage control, saying she and her fellow host did not know about the girl’s past.

“I think we might actually abort this segment,” Jackie O said.

“That’s something we probably should have known before we started,” Sandilands said.

Jackie O continued, saying: “I had no idea you’d been through something like that so I’m really sorry and we’ll just let you off the hook I think … I think it’s best not to continue.”

She asked if the girl was “all right” before offering her help from a counsellor.

The girl’s mother said her daughter had only told her about the rape a month before and had not spoken to anyone about the rape.

“If you guys haven’t had any counselling then we’re happy to pick up the bill for that — we’ve got [counsellors] here,” Sandilands said.

“That might answer some of the questions you guys are having difficulty communicating with.”

SO everyone was up in arms for numerous reasons, some I agree with and some I don’t.

The situation as I see it:

The mother should never have taken her daughter onto the show in the first place. That’s the first problem. The second part of it, the mother especially shouldn’t have taken her daughter on the show already knowing that she had been raped as a 12 year old.

Kyle & Jackie never should have thought it was ok to hook up a 14 year old girl to a lie detector test and really the segment should never have happened.

I really think that what Kyle said “Right … is that the only experience you’ve had?” was a panicked reaction. This is what Kyle had to say yesterday from The Punch website:

“There have only been a few occasions in my whole career that I’ve been sideswiped by something. When faced with a situation like what happened today, when a girl revealed live on air that she had been raped when she was 12, you react like anyone else. I was horrified.

We have had the lie detector thing on regularly for about six years. It’s a semi-regular segment on the show. We check with the mother before hand, and go through the questions they want asked.

I’m in New Zealand this week and all I have is a microphone, a computer screen, and a camera that relays back to Jackie and the producers in the studio.

The mum hadn’t said anything about the rape. She was concerned that her daughter was on drugs or was sexually active. Like a lot of mothers worried about their kid, she just wanted to find out what was going on.

She put her on and at the second question the girl said she had been raped when she was 12.

We were stunned.

To tell you the truth I was floundering around, signalling to the producers and Jackie – down the camera – indicating that we had to get it off air.

I didn’t realise I had said “Have you had any other experiences?”

At the same time I was speaking I was signalling to Jackie that we had to terminate the segment. I went into a slight panic as how to get the thing off the air and I was more focused on making that happen than on what I said.

I’m sorry for her that it turned out like that. I’ve certainly pissed off a lot of journos over the years but I’m sad that they’re using the rape of a 12-year-old girl to have a go at me.

We muck around a lot on the radio but off the air there’s lots of different things we do with people. Contrary to popular belief, Jackie and I care a lot about people.

As for what I said, it wasn’t intended to hurt. If people have found it appalling or offensive I’m sorry for them that feel that way, but I would ask people to put themselves into the situation where someone says to you during a live radio show that they have been raped.”

2Day FM also released a statement:

“2Day FM were saddened by the turn of events this morning. In the normal course of preparing the segment all due care and consideration was given to the family and clearly we didn?t know anything about this traumatic incident. The moment we became aware of it was live on air and we brought it to an end as soon as we possibly could.
As is only appropriate, we are offering all the assistance we can to the family, including counselling, in what is of course an extraordinarily difficult situation.”

So for the first time in my life I am actually inclined to a) believe Kyle and Jackie when they say they didn’t know about the situation and b) believe that Kyle truly did panic and anything could have come out of his mouth at that point in time.

There has been a huge uproar to take Kyle and Jackie off the air and comparing them to the Chaser boys and their sick children’s skit when really it’s like comparing apples with pancakes, not even close to being similar. The radio ’stunt’ was not intentional, unlike the Chaser stunt which is claimed not to have been intentional but the guys knew exactly what they were doing and weren’t faced with a shocking submission from a 14 year old girl live on air.

So who is the person that should be copping all the heat over this. The mother. Plain and simple. How could she force her daughter onto a radio show like that knowing what she knew, and not only did she know, she clearly didn’t do anything to help her daughter. Yes how Kyle handled the situation was terrible but how the mother has handled her daughter is horrific.

So everyone get off their sack Kyle and Jackie O bandwagon and take a look at the real problem. This poor child clearly doesn’t have a good relationship with her mother, and the mother clearly needs help just as much as her daughter. Let’s hope she gets that help.

This morning’s show: Unfortunately I didn’t hear the show this morning, but according to Mamamia:

“Much of the show was spent talking about the MEDIA reaction to what happened but they certainly didn’t shy away from the criticism. What disheartened – and infuriated – me, was the way the whole thing was somehow twisted into “isn’t it great that this girl and her family now have the help and support they need”. From DOCS. From the police. From counsellors. The vast majority of callers seemed to agree with this.”

Let’s hope Kyle and Jackie O and their producers have learnt their lesson about what is appropriate and what is just a rating stunt. Unfortunately yes at the end of the day this has all been at the expense of a 14 year old girl.

The latest crazy Heather Mills installment goes something like this.

From www.smh.com.au:

Heather Mills thinks anyone who has written lies about her should get cancer.

The former glamour model – ex-wife of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney – believes in karma and is convinced people who have given her a hard time in the past will get their comeuppance by getting a life-threatening disease.

She said in an interview with Britain’s Food Monthly magazine: “The truth always outs in the end… no one gets away with those things. Certain journalists have written horrible things, and then they’ve got cancer, or they’ve had a tumour, or they’ve died. And it’s terrible for them, but they’ve done really evil things. I truly believe things come back around.”

The mother-of-one also hit out at claims she copied the late Princess Diana in campaigning against the use of landmines in war and insists she was fighting the cause long before Diana received worldwide attention.

She said: “Princess Diana helped for eight months, and because she was such a shining light and went to one minefield, suddenly everyone was into landmines, but then only because she died did we get the extra 100 people to sign.

“Which was terrible, but that was one of her huge legacies in life, plus many other things. But then everyone used to say, ‘Oh, Heather’s copying Diana!’ And everyone in the landmine industry just laughed, because they said, ‘Well, Heather’s been doing this for six years…’ “

I’m sorry, well actually no I’m not sorry, this woman is a nutbag! If anyone should be worried about karma it’s the crazy lady herself, not the journo’s! And so what if Princess Diana only ‘helped out’ for 8 months and Heather has been campaigning for 6 six years. My God, this woman should just be grateful that Princess Diana shone the spotlight on the cause in the first place.

Hmmm I wonder now if I need to worry about Heather Mills karma!!

What do you think? Crazy lady or misunderstood?

I read the following story about cricketer Mitchell Johnson’s Mum having a cow over partners being flown around the world with the players and not the parents and honestly thought ‘You gotta be kidding me. ‘

The article from ninemsn goes something like this:

Aussie fast bowler Mitchell Johnson’s mother has launched an extraordinary attack on her son’s “bitchy” fiancé, accusing her of “stealing” him.
One the eve of the Ashes series in England, Vikki Harber also slammed Cricket Australia for flying players’ girlfriends to overseas games instead of parents. Ms Harber told the Herald Sun she used to have a close relationship with her son before his karate champ fianceé Jessica Bratich started going out with him.

“Up until he met Jessica we were very close . . . but he hasn’t spent a night under my roof since he met Jessica,” the newspaper quoted Ms Harber as saying.

“I get a text on Mother’s Day and a text on my birthday,” she said.

“It has been like this since Jess came on the scene.”

Last year Johnson moved to Perth to be with Ms Bratich, who has become one of Australia’s most popular WAGs and recently featured on the cover of Ralph magazine. Ms Harbour said she was disappointed Cricket Australia paid for Ms Bratich to travel around the world with Johnson on tour while she was not given the same opportunity.

“For the wives and the children I think it is great that they support them and send them over there, but who are these girlfriends? They are just girlfriends,” Ms Harber said.

“She [Ms Bratich] gets all these trips, she gets flown there, accommodation, food and all of that.”

Johnson’s manager Sam Halvosen told the Herald Sun the cricketer was aware of his mother’s comments but did not want to discuss them.

So what do you make of all of this? I think this lady is slightly cuckoo if you ask me and she seriously needs to let go of her son. Her comment about that it was ok for wives to be flown over but not girlfriends, “who are these girlfriends? They are just girlfriends”, really annoyed me. Who is she to say that because someone is someone’s wife and not girlfriend then they are more important. What if one of the ‘girlfriends’ had been with their partner for 10 years, and they’ve decided not to get married.

This lady seriously needs to get a reality check. I don’t doubt that she would love to go and see her son play cricket for Australia overseas but there comes a time when your children grow up and choose someone they are going to spend the rest of their lives with.

And making negative comments to the public about your future daughter-in-law, well that’s just a great way to build a wonderful relationship with the possible future mother of your grandchildren now isn’t it. It’s not Jessica’s fault that Cricket Australia offered to fly them over. Why not find your own way to get there instead of being so jealous.

Anyway, do you agree with me or do you think I’m being too harsh?!
