Expensive by a country mile

As a dedicated Country Road shopper, I appreciate their clothes are quality and I don’t mind paying for it. What I do mind is the difference between the women’s and men’s cost of the clothes.

For example this Toast Check Pea Coat for women is $349.
While this Black Heavy Men’s jacket is a mere $199.

Am I having a totally blonde moment and missing something here? It doesn’t just apply to these 2 particular items. Myself and even my other half have noticed it through all the different collections and seasons.

Are they expecting that women will naturally spend more on clothes and therefore know they can charge more? They clearly haven’t spent enough time with my other half who doesn’t mind a nice piece of clothing here and there!

There are so many arguments around this little pet hate of mine, with the economy the way it is can we justify spending this sort of money of clothes, there’s the ongoing battle between what women and men earn, so if men typically earn more then why are women’s clothes so much more expensive.

Maybe you can enlighten me…..

I have to go shopping now!

What to expect when you’re NOT expecting

After recently becoming engaged I was honestly astounded at the amount of times I was asked if I was pregnant.

I wasn’t exactly offended more surprised and little bit disappointed. Now don’t get me wrong, we are not an old-fashioned couple and in this day and age if you have a baby out of wedlock well it’s not the end of the world.

What was disappointing however was people assumed there must have been a need for us to get married, instead we were just an ordinary couple in love wanting to marry each other.
It lead me to ask the question, in this day and age how has marriage changed? Is it something we do because: oops there’s a baby on the way, you’ve been together so long and it’s expected, or God forbid you’re in love and just WANT to get married?!

Crossing over to the blog side

Over the past few months I have been faced with a number of ‘firsts’!

Since starting at Sticky Advertising in September last year I have slowly been ‘corrupted’ by the other ‘Sticky thinkers’ AKA staff!

I now enjoy a coffee each morning (though I’m not quite up to Gordon’s 10 per day!), I was then introduced to Twitter (which our boss encourages us to use at work!), I know what SEO stands for and how it works and here I am typing away on my first blog.

With Puff Pieces to come on everyday life, what life throws at us and all the other things in between, I hope there is something here for you to enjoy.

No wiki’s or SEO stats here, just ‘ponderings’ turned into stories. (Check out www.mediahunter.com.au and www.themarketer.typepad.com for all things media and digital).

While the site is pink (and proud) and I’m afraid I’m at that marriage and gooing over babies, time in my life, GUYS, you never know what you might learn.

As a 20-something almost married advertising account exec; you never know what I might come up with next!
