Ink, anyone?

gettingatattooIn an attempt to beef up Puff Pieces and fulfill the demands of all my male fans out there (hi Dean!) today I’d like to talk about tattoos.

Now when it comes to tattoos and applying permanent ink to your body I’m actually neither for or against the idea, I’m sort of in the middle. You know, sitting on the proverbial fence.

But when I was about 21 I kind of considered getting a tattoo. “Kind of” being the operative words! I knew a girl who had a tattoo of a butterfly or dragonfly on the top of her foot and I actually really liked it. Then 2 things crossed my mind. One quite normal and the other quite random.

gettingatattoo2The first thing was the issue of the whole needle thing. You know the fact that getting a tattoo involves having a needle scrape over your skin while the ink goes in. Ouch, anyone. I’m bad with needles at the best of times, let alone having to sit still and patiently in a chair for an hour or so at my own will. No thank you, I think I’ll pass.

Second thing, and maybe a little odd, was I thought about my wedding day. The one day you’re all in white (in most cases anyway) with beautiful shoes and I thought to myself, I don’t think I’d like a tattoo on my foot for my wedding day. And you know the small detail of a tattoo being permanent was kind of relevant in this case!

And so I’ve never got a tattoo, nor do I plan to get one. Did I mention my immense dislike of needles?!

So now I’d like to hear from you.

Do you have any tattoo’s? Why did you get one or one hundred? Have you ever regretted a tattoo? Go on leave a comment, I dare you!

Majority of my girlfriends have at least one tattoo, and my partner has a huge one (and I’d love him to get more!), but for me, I don’t feel the need to – for the moment. There just isn’t a design that I’d love to have with me forever…perhaps after I have children I might get their names tattooed on me, but for now I remain ink-free. Interestly, my partner can’t stand girls with tattoo’s so it works rather well between us…

Well i have just one and I would like more. Its a very personal thing to get tattooed and same as any body modification (boob job, nose job, face job) I had always wanted one and got tattooed on my 40th birthday, it took anouther 15 months to finish. My wife does not like them and if she did I would be coloured in!

Like Dean i have only the one at present, but would like to add to it. In saying that there was years of thought put into my original one and there will be years more put into my next one. I dont have a problem with them on anyone, male or female, especially if they mean something to you. They become part of your personality.
