Glenn McGrath finds new love

Today SMH has reported:

Former Test paceman Glenn McGrath – whose wife Jane died of cancer in 2008 – has been seen with his new girlfriend, Sara Leonardi, 28.

As next Monday’s Woman’s Day reveals, the pair spent Tuesday night at a Sydney restaurant.

The magazine, which has secured a photo spread of the couple, reports she is a beautiful brunette and that McGrath’s friends are delighted he has again found happiness. (Image Source).

I watched some reactions to this on TV this morning, and of course there were differing of opinions. One person was very honest saying at first they were a little shocked as it seemed quite soon, but then they realised who the hell are they to judge.

Others were worried about his children to which someone replied, the best person who knows what’s best for his kids, is Glenn himself, and I can’t imagine he’d introduce just anyone to his kids.

I’m sure it’s hard enough for people to lose a spouse, let alone having to do it in the very public eye. I actually think the news is great and wonderful that Glenn and his kids now seem to be in a happy place where they can invite someone else into their lives.

What do you think?

I felt really sad when I read this ‘news’ this morning. I think it just reminds me of the battle Jane fought, and Glenn fought with her. When my aunty died of breast cancer, leaving behind 3 children under 3, her husband re-married within a couple of years. A lot of family members were horrified, but the positive was that he wasn’t bringing heaps of women in and out of their lives. And they had a ‘Mum’ again, who cared for them and brought them up well. I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

People deserve to be happy again after going through these things – and I’m pretty sure the partners who left them behind would want that too.

Wow, to be honest, this news totally surprised me, but only because it seems like it’s only been a month since Jane died.

I love Glenn McGrath. I think him and Jane made a gorgeous couple and it must be sooo hard for him to be back in the dating game, especially with two young kids and a life in the public eye.

Good on him though. I’m sure his wife wouldve wanted him to find happiness again.

I think unless you are Glenn McGrath and have walked in his shoes we really can’t and shouldn’t judge.
I hope he is happy, and that the media leave him, his kids, and his girlfriend in peace.
