Photo #10
The always lovely Jodie over at Mummy Mayhem tagged me for this one.
I have to post a photo from my computer library and talk about it. The best bit is I don’t have to sit here agonising over which one as the decision has already been made! It has to be the tenth photo in my library.
Here are the (official) instructions:
1. Open the first/oldest photo folder in your computer library
2. Scroll to the 10th photo
3. Post the photo and the story behind it
4. Tag 5 or more people to continue the thread
So here’s my pic. It’s in Hobart and the year was 2007. Hubby had given me a digital camera for Christmas that year but for some reason I didn’t use it on Christmas Day! Anyway, there’s me, Clo and Jen at about 6am on the morning of the 30th December. We’d been up all night, literally sitting on the dock since about 2am waiting for our other halves to come sailing in, in the Sydney-Hobart yacht race!
Us girls flew down on the 27th and had a few days of shopping, eating and drinking before greeting the boys and then jumping back on a plane to Sydney that afternoon! It was a great trip, and the atmosphere is great fun in Hobart. I remember the first pub we went to after the boys arrived and my shoes kept sticking to the floor from all the rum! Good times!
So now it’s my turn to pass it on, so without doubling up here’s my picks…

10 random things…
So I borrowed stole this from Thea who posted 25 random things about me at her My Year of Giving blog. I thought I’d start with 10!
1. I wouldn’t go to preschool unless I was wearing pink.
2. When I grow up I’d like to be a children’s book author.
3. I’ve coloured my hair since I was 11. (Don’t call DOCS I started with the $4 Napro rinses, which probably didn’t even change the colour of my hair!)
4. I always wanted to have twins. If I do, I could very well eat those words and spit them back again. But that would only happen if I had time to do things like that, you know spit out words, because I hear twins are slightly time consuming!
5. My first job was in a jewellery store, and I spent my first 2 weeks pay (all of $40) on jewellery.
6. I was a very messy child, and I’m a neat freak adult.
7. I can’t ride a bike. Well not very well anyway. Fell off one quite a few months ago, as in fell down the curb, didn’t hurt myself at all but got the shits so haven’t ridden it since. They say it’s just like riding a bike. Whoever ‘they’ is haven’t seen me in action.
8. I don’t really like alcohol. I’ve never been a big drinker, and I can actually recall that horrible hung over feeling and tend not to want to go there. This is great for Hubby and friends coz it means they always have a Designated Driver. Oh except for a friends sparkly red that they buy. Seriously YUM.
9. It took me a bloody long time to say the word ‘bureau’ properly. Even now I bugger it up on the first go sometimes. Thankfully it’s not part of my day to day vocabulary. Lucky that dream job of being a weather girl never came to fruition. “And from the weather brureau” just doesn’t scream ‘professional TV presenter’ now does it.
10. It appears I have developed an allergy to Hazelnuts. Started about a year ago while I was eating that Cadbury nut chocolate and my mouth was beyond itchy and my tongue got kinda fat. At the time I thought well that was a bit random, so I experimented under the close watchful eye of Hubby, and same thing happened again with Hazelnuts. Didn’t think much about it at the time, until I realised at Christmas I could no longer eat Ferrero Rochers. Totally. Devastated. Thank God for icecream as a suitable replacement.
What makes you, like, totally random?!
In keeping with the recent posts of 10 things that make me happy (you can read mine HERE), I thought I would do a different kind of 10 things!
10 things that I don’t have the guts to do! They don’t necessarily have to be things that you wished you had the guts to do, just couldn’t or wouldn’t do!
So here goes….
1. Skydiving
This is actually one that I WOULD like to do, I just really don’t know if I could actually go through with it!
2. Busking
Yes this one might seem strange, but I was walking down the street the other day and there was this dude just sitting on the footpath strumming his guitar and singing away, and the first thing I thought was, god that would take some guts!
3. Climb the Harbour Bridge
This one is very similar to Skydiving I know. Yes I would like to do it, but once again not sure if it came to do it I would have the guts to do it!
4. Give up everything to help others
We all want to give back, and help those less fortunate than us. But could you give up everything to make this happen? Bless you Cate Bolt!
5. Eat weird things!
I know that probably sounds, well, weird, but as much as I love food I’m pretty well stuck in my comfort zone and tend not to try a lot of new things. Well actually I shouldn’t say ‘new’ things, more weird things! Just in case my guts, literally can’t handle it!
6. Move to another country by myself
Not long before I started going out with Hubby I joined a job agency in Dubai and was seriously contemplating moving there. Eventually the new relationship distracted me and I was happy to stay put. Then Hubby and his company were made an offer to do some work in Dubai. Off he went for a couple of weeks. There was a possibility that we could have ended up moving there for 2 or so years, but it never came off. Which I’m happy to say now I’m kinda glad we didn’t go. But had I not have met Hubby, would I have moved by myself? Well I guess that’s something we’ll never know, and if it had have came down it could I have gone myself? I’m not actually sure that I could have.
7. Reverse park my Hubby’s Hilux
This monstrosity of a 4WD is hard enough to drive sometimes let alone park! Thankfully I usually only have to drive it home from dinner, or friends places when Hubby has had a little too much lolly water. On the odd chance I have had to drive it somewhere by myself I have driven around looking for ‘easy’ parks because hell would freeze over before I would even think about trying to reverse park the sucker!
8. Swim in the ocean
I’m not a particularly good swimmer, and actually don’t really like water in general. Trust me then to marry a sailor! Anyway, when, or more like if we ever go to the beach you won’t get me in there past my knees. Give me a pool or relatively clear lake any day. But the ocean? Nope, scares the bejesus outta me!
9. Give blood
This is a really bad one I know, because giving blood helps so many people. But I just cannot bring myself to go and do it. I nearly cried when I had to get the cervical cancer vaccine. And not just one of the times, but all three! I’ve had a pathology referral since October to go get a blood test to check my rubella immunity is up to date. Twice Hubby and I have gone to get it done and twice the place has been shut. Oh well, maybe I’ll get there eventually. The further needles are away from me the better.
10. Shave my head
Back in high school a group of girls in my year shaved their heads for Cancer. To this day I still admire what they did, and everyone else who has ever done it. I honestly and seriously would never have the guts to do it, even though I know it’s for a wonderful cause. Selfish ha. Maybe one day when I stop caring about what other people think. Oooh that could be a number 11, I don’t have the guts to stop caring about that other people think. OK, sorry that’s enough of a list for today!
So there you have it! Aren’t I just an all round scaredy cat! So I’d like to ask the following bloggers, what don’t you have the guts to do…..
