Boy or Girl?

These day’s I think it’s fair to say that it’s about 50/50, those you choose to find out the sex of their baby and those who wait for the surprise. Having said that I’m really only going off people that I know, so don’t quote me on national statistics or anything!

And so, here we are preggers with our first bub, and part of me wants to know and the other part wants to have a surprise after that all that hard work, otherwise known as giving birth.

So, some friends found out because they wanted to get organised and decorate the nursery. Practical, yes. And something that I have thought of. Yes we could do a ‘generic’ nursery, but that wouldn’t be fun now would it! Not that I’m a stereotypical mother-to-be, you know pink and pretty for girls and blue and sail boats for boys. No I’m not stereotyping my future child at all!

And so a couple of weeks ago at our 12 weeks ultrasound, we ticked the box ‘No’ we don’t want to know what we’re having at the 20 weeks ultrasound. Hubby was adamant, and I was a little hesitant. You see I’ve never been good at waiting. Patience is definitely not one of my strong points. When we got engaged in January last year, I wanted to get married in March. The same year.

I’ll eat toast that is nearly done just so I don’t have to wait. I’ll beg Hubby to tell me what he bought me for Christmas, always with no luck. And so now I have to wait 6 months, yep 6 months to find out if Tic-tac is a boy or girl.

Having said all that, though, if Hubby turned around and said, Ok, let’s find out, I’d probably be hesitant!

So. Did you find out which flavour baby you were having?

Photo #10

13Apr10

The always lovely Jodie over at Mummy Mayhem tagged me for this one.

I have to post a photo from my computer library and talk about it. The best bit is I don’t have to sit here agonising over which one as the decision has already been made! It has to be the tenth photo in my library.

Here are the (official) instructions:

1. Open the first/oldest photo folder in your computer library

2. Scroll to the 10th photo

3. Post the photo and the story behind it

4. Tag 5 or more people to continue the thread

So here’s my pic. It’s in Hobart and the year was 2007. Hubby had given me a digital camera for Christmas that year but for some reason I didn’t use it on Christmas Day! Anyway, there’s me, Clo and Jen at about 6am on the morning of the 30th December. We’d been up all night, literally sitting on the dock since about 2am waiting for our other halves to come sailing in, in the Sydney-Hobart yacht race!

Me, Clo, Jen

Us girls flew down on the 27th and had a few days of shopping, eating and drinking before greeting the boys and then jumping back on a plane to Sydney that afternoon! It was a great trip, and the atmosphere is great fun in Hobart. I remember the first pub we went to after the boys arrived and my shoes kept sticking to the floor from all the rum! Good times!

So now it’s my turn to pass it on, so without doubling up here’s my picks…
