It’s a sad thing when you say to yourself that you don’t really trust anyone. I’m not talking family or friends, but trusting someone when they say yes we’ll have that done for you, or no that won’t be a problem.
So where is all this coming from. Well. Over the last couple of days the issue of trust or just believing someone’s word has got me thinking about the way I view our society.
First there was the lovely catering incident. You can read about that here. Then yesterday I took my engagement ring and another ring in to be cleaned before the big day. It crossed my mind more than once: ‘Would I get my ring back with the same diamond?’ You hear so many horror stories of stones being swapped that I was actually really nervous about leaving my most important pieces of jewellery.
I remember when we chose my diamond, my other half asked the lady, how do we know that when we pick up the finished ring it’ll be the same diamond. She rambled on about their reputation and valuations and certificates, but still, you just never know.
I seem to have developed this attitude of ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’, so I don’t find myself being disappointed when something isn’t ready when someone said it would be.
It’s quite sad, my pessimistic attitude that I’ve been developing. In my own work, I love the theory of under promising and over delivering. Classic case of always better to be safe than sorry. And keeping our clients’ happy is of course top priority.
So what do you think? Do you question most things people say in relation to timeframes, promises etc? Do you think that we all just lead such busy lives that it has become the norm to not deliver things on time? And do you find it easier just not to trust people in the first place?
I wish I could *@#$ Matt Damon
Sometimes it feels great to be a little immature and giggle like a little girl! I am now officially in love with Matt Damon!!
Enjoy!
The joys of being famous!! And did I mention that I’m now in love with Matt Damon!
So last night we did a spot of late night shopping. Nothing unusual in itself I know, expect after 5 minutes at Westfield we were both looking at each other saying get me the f&#* outta here.
We got what we had to get oh so very quickly and then headed to the foodcourt to grab some dinner. We decided to get something relatively healthy and chose a salad place. As the girl was packaging up our pasta and salad I noticed their slogan on the back of her shirt. It said “Eat Larger, Stay Thin”.
I thought about this for a second and decided that I didn’t really like the use of the word ‘Thin’ and all that it implies. Maybe I’ve been exposed to too much body image talk lately, but something about it just didn’t sit right with me.
While it’s only one little word, it can send so many messages to so many people, most of which are negative.
As a healthy size 10-12 girl, I have thankfully never had an eating disorder, but I do often think about my weight. I’ve probably put on approx 6 kilos over the last couple of years and often find myself putting on old clothes that just don’t fit, which is kinda depressing. But at the end of the day I’m not big on exercising or dieting and most of the time accept how I am and just buy different clothes now. (Yes another excuse to go shopping!)
So what do you think of the tagline? Am I over reacting? I’m actually finding it hard to pinpoint my exact grievance over the tagline, except my first initial reaction was, Hmmm, I’m not to sure about that.
Would love to hear your thoughts.
